Entering the Great Southern Ocean .... Bruny Island, Tasmania

February 22, took the Adventure to Bruny Island off the Southern Coast of Tasmania for a water adventure to check out wildlife.

Weather was "typical" with seas in the 3-meter range (about 10' from top to trough) and wild 90-minute ride to check out Austrailia Fur Seals.....

These are treacherous waters and it is where the Tasman Sea meets the Great Southern Ocean (all the way to Antarctica 2,500nm South)......

Take your dramamine and come along for the ride! Challow

the 12.5m speedboat

Amazing water features

Cutting thru a pass.....

"The Blow hole" famous for when a wave hits it, it spouts water as from a whale

Zipping along.... Before the Seas took a turn!

Seal Rock....Visiting a colony of male Australian fur seals in the Great Southern Ocean; offshore Cape Bruny, Tasmania …( to my shipping peeps… the infamous “Roaring Forties” were roaring…)

The ladies are up North in Victoria; about 800km away.

The males head North to Mate in October to December,,,,, Then they leave and bring the new 2+ year olds who leave the female colony to ,oin the old guys (up to 25), swim Thru orcas & great whites, then pull themselves onto their islands & “hang out”…..

The Requisite Don T Selfie for authautencity!
